creator Janet Hetherington (Eternal Romance, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark) contributed two new pieces of original full-color Wonder Woman art for Wonder
Woman Day V, held on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Wonder
Woman Day V was deemed a part of national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
This was the fifth year that organizer Andy Mangels has called upon artists to
contribute Wonder Woman art for this important cause. Past contributors have
included Adam Hughes, Gary Frank, Nicola Scott, Hetherington and many more. The
first four years raised over $89,000 in aid of four domestic violence programs.

Elvira, Mistress ofthe Dark (Cassandra Peterson) is returning to weekly television the weekend of September 25 with a revamped (no pun intended) Elvira’s Movie Macabre, to air in two-hour blocks on new digital channel on THIS! Television and in national syndication throughout the U.S.

IN COMIC-CON ART SHOW
Janet Hetherington attended Comic-Con International in San Diego from July 21-25. Janet's original art was displayed in the Art Show, and three pieces sold, including the full-color Powderkeg Harley Quinn original art.

SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK AIDS HAITI
Artwork of Marvel Comics character THE SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK by Janet L. Hetherington was part of a successful art auction held at Ottawa's Cube Gallery in aid of the victims in Haiti.

Hello friends,
First of all, please accept our apology for the lateness of this report. After the event on February 9th, there were many administrative details associated with the event that required immediate attention.
As Member of Parliament and on behalf of AfrikArt Konnexion and Cube Gallery who co-organized the Artists for Haiti fundraiser, I would like to thank you for your participation in the event.
I am happy to let you know that, with your contribution, we raised over $10,000 on February 9th. This amount was matched by the Canadian government to a total of $20,100.
All the funds will be used for emergency and long-term rebuilding needs of Haiti. We divided the money raised between the Canadian Red Cross and The Humanitarian Coalition (Oxfam-Canada, Oxfam-Québec, Save the Children Canada and Care Canada).

RONN SUTTON ILLUSTRATES FEAR -- BOTH REAL AND IMAGINED
Artist Ronn Sutton hits front pages with his courtroom drawings of alleged terrorist
Artist Ronn Sutton has switched from drawing pure science fiction fantasy appearing in FEAR AGENT #22 (Dark Horse Comics), out June 2008, to illustrating the epitome of true fear -- alleged Canadian terrorist Momin Khawaja. Khawaja's trial took place in Ottawa, Canada, and Sutton's courtroom art has been featured on the front pages of The Ottawa Citizen, in the National Post, online and on television.
Khawaja, the Ottawa computer specialist who plotted jihad from his government desk at foreign affairs, was found guilty of five terrorism related charges on October 29, 2008. Ontario Superior Court Justice Douglas Rutherford ruled that Khawaja, 29, played a significant role as financier, engineer and technical adviser to British terrorists. The evidence shows that Khawaja agreed to build 30 bomb detonators for violent Jihadists, although it is not clear whether he knew how those detonators would be used, the judge concluded.
The Khawaja case was considered the first major test of Canada's Anti-terrorism Act, a sweeping law passed in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington. The law expanded the application of the Criminal Code to a wide range of terrorism-related activities. Khawaja, the first Canadian to be charged under the Act, now represents the federal government's first major terrorism conviction since 9-11.
Ronn Sutton has been in court to draw Khawaja throughout the trail. "The challenge of courtroom drawing is to get a good likeness and depict the environment in an accurate way, often in a very short period of time," Sutton says. "It's very different from drawing rocket ships or comic book heroes."

May 2 Signing a hit at the Hobby Centre/The Cave Comics in Ottawa
Comics creators Ronn Sutton (Fear Agent, Elvira, Vampira) and Janet Hetherington (Eternal Romance, Elvira, Monster Love) joined the Hobby Centre/The Cave Comics owner Bill Chappell on May 2, 2009, for some Free Comic Book Day fun at the store's new location in Ottawa.
Free comics were offered and visitors saw costumed crime-fighters -- Spider-Man, Batman, Star Wars characters and more -- at the store's location at 6-33 Royden Place, Ottawa (near Costco off of Merivale). Thanks to everyone who dropped by to chat, buy a burger from Montana's stand in support of children's charities, or picked up a child safety fingerprinting kit -- and a free comic!
